Volunteering at Portland Works

Join Our Team of Volunteers

Be part of a team of volunteers preserving and promoting Sheffield’s rich industrial history, while learning new skills in a fun, collaborative atmosphere. Our volunteers support Portland Works in a range of ways from restoring the fabric of the building to giving talks and tours on the history of the stainless steel cutlery factory.

We value community support in running the organisation and offer volunteer roles in administration, marketing and as decision makers. And if you just want to help out occasionally, we sometimes need volunteers for public events and exciting fundraising initiatives.

Our future plans include welcoming the local community into our spaces and volunteers will be a key part of that. Whatever you do, you’ll get training where appropriate, and lots of support. And then there’s the “apres-work” bit, the Portland Works group like to relax over a coffee, pint or a curry after a session helping so join us!

You can apply below.   Please note – we currently aren’t recruiting for Building and Maintenance Volunteers (as at August 2024).
